Climate Change and Environment

• Climate change signals detected in global weather. "Searched for and found: climate researchers can now detect the fingerprint of global warming in daily weather observations at the global scale. They are thus amending a long-established paradigm: weather is not climate -- but climate change can now be detected in daily weather."
• The US Oil and Gas Industry's 5-Year Plan Is a Climate and Health Nightmare. "By 2025, oil and gas companies have plans to expand enough to release as much new greenhouse gas pollution as 50 new coal-fired power plants." 
• The Nightmare Climate Scenario That Keeps Scientists Up at Night. And it's basically Earth in 2020. 

Politics 

• A vast network of shadowy news sites promote conservative talking points mixed with floods of algorithmically generated "news". Another reason to look for more regulation of social media, as if we needed more. This could also have been filed under "Technology". 
• Inaction Is a Form of Action: Cory Doctorow discusses how permitting monopolies is a form of government censorship.

Technology

• Astronomers Are Increasingly Worried About How Satellite Megaconstellations Will Disrupt Science. This is a serious problem and needs immediate attention.
• Gig Life: Slaves to the Algorithm. "When the boss is an app, humans pay a price."
