TV and Movie Reviews - August 2020 - Part 2

This will be short as we haven't been watching many new shows or movies, just working our way through series that I've already mentioned in earlier posts. And watching the Toronto Blue Jays baseball games.

  • Welcome to the Punch: A British movie about a former criminal who has to return to London to rescue his son from a heist gone wrong. The plot is quite muddled and I lost track halfway through but kept watching because of the editing and cinematography, which is Peckinpah-level good. I'll be keeping an eye out for movies by Eran Creevy in the future. (Amazon Prime)
  • NOS4A2 Season 2: We finished the second season of this series which is based on a Joe Hill book. The first season was better. The second season had too many narrative threads and was several episodes too long.
  • Perry Mason: We finished watching the HBO reboot of Perry Mason. Actually, it's more of a prequel than a reboot. I've seen some negative comments about the ending, but we enjoyed the series. It's especially notable for its lush recreation of 1930s Los Angeles. It will be interesting to see where they go from here. (HBO)
