- The Hacking of ChatGPT Is Just Getting Started. "Security researchers are jailbreaking large language models to get around safety rules. Things could get much worse."
- A Number System Invented by Inuit Schoolchildren Will Make Its Silicon Valley Debut. "Math is called the “universal language,” but a unique dialect is being reborn."
- Plastic-eating backyard fungi discovery boosts hopes for a solution to the recycling crisis. "Experiments conducted by researchers at the University of Sydney, published in science journal npj Materials Degradation, found that two types of fungi could be harnessed to attack small samples of polypropylene, which is used to make items like takeaway containers, ice-cream tubs and cling film." Before going too far with this, the researchers might want to read ILL WIND by Kevin J. Anderson and Doug Beason.
- Hidden Sci-Fi Women of the OED. "There are a number of female science fiction authors cited in the OED; some have coined words and many have interesting backstories. The genre has attracted many female authors and readers over the years, although it is traditionally male-orientated. Many of these authors are elusive, hiding behind (often male) pen names. Here are just a few of those cited."
